Ronan Lupton is an experienced Senior Counsel practising in the areas of Commercial, Chancery and Media Law. He regularly appears as counsel before the national courts at all levels and before various regulatory and statutory tribunals. He is an adjunct full professor of law at the Sutherland School of Law in UCD where he lectures on the Privacy and Data Protection Law Module. He has particular expertise in Defamation, Data Protection, eCommerce, Freedom of Expression, Intellectual Property, Privacy and Media Contempt. He has been appointed to a number of Government advisory panels concerning child protection online, online content regulation, and the individual complaints mechanism under the OSMR Act 2022. He has a special interest in AI as well as Communications Regulatory Law. As a co-opted member of the Bar of Ireland Professional Practices Committee (PPC) he chairs a PPC working group on AI.
